A note for kids, from Mooset
Your art and your information are private. A grown-up in your family is in charge of your account, and they decide when you are ready to explore. Your art is never made public!
If you ever have a question about your privacy, ask a grown-up to help you read this page.
The short version
ARTMOOSEUM is a product developed by WITHIN Learning Group LLC. It is built to be:
- Age-appropriate and child-safe
- Privacy-first: children’s and parents’ information is never public
- Calm and non-exploitative: creativity and learning come before metrics, ads, or pressure
- Parent-controlled: parents create and manage accounts and grant permission for children to explore
We do not collect or share unnecessary personal data.
What is COPPA?
COPPA is the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, a United States federal law. It is enforced by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) through the COPPA Rule. Its main goal is to give parents control over what information websites and apps collect from their young children online.
Who it protects
COPPA protects children under 13. It applies to websites and apps (including mobile apps) that are directed to children under 13, and to other online services that know they are collecting personal information from a child under 13.
What it asks apps and websites to do
- Post a clear privacy policy that explains how they handle children’s information
- Tell parents directly, and get verifiable parental consent before collecting a child’s personal information (with limited exceptions)
- Let parents see the information collected about their child, ask for it to be deleted, and stop further collection
- Collect only what is reasonably necessary for a child to take part in an activity
- Keep children’s information confidential and secure
- Keep it only as long as it is needed for its purpose, then delete it securely
- Get separate parental consent before sharing children’s information with third parties, unless the sharing is integral to the service and clearly disclosed
What counts as “personal information”?
More than just a name. Under COPPA it can include a name, home address, online contact information or a username that works like contact information, a phone number, a photo, video or audio recording of a child, precise location, and persistent identifiers (such as a cookie or device ID) that can recognize a user over time.
The FTC updated the COPPA Rule in 2025, adding stronger requirements around separate consent for disclosure to third parties, written data security programs, and written data retention policies. Learn more in the FTC’s guide: Complying with COPPA: Frequently Asked Questions.
How ARTMOOSEUM respects COPPA
ARTMOOSEUM is designed for children, so we build it around COPPA’s principles:
- Parents come first. A parent downloads the app, creates the account, and chooses when their child is ready to explore.
- Permission before exploring. Children explore only after a parent grants permission.
- Parents stay in control of settings and progress.
- Private by default. Children’s data and artwork remain private and protected. Children’s and parents’ information is never public.
- Only what we need. We do not collect or share unnecessary personal data.
- No pressure. We put creativity and learning before metrics, ads, or pressure.
Information we handle
On this website
This website does not have accounts and does not ask visitors, including children, to enter personal information. If you email us at the address below, we use your email address and message only to reply to you.
To display text in our brand fonts, this website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google’s servers when a page loads.
In the ARTMOOSEUM app
The ARTMOOSEUM app is coming soon. A parent creates the account and gives permission for a child to explore. In the app we handle only what the app needs to work:
- The parent’s email address, used for signing in and account recovery only
- Artwork a child uploads, kept in a private gallery and Memory Book, along with the badges and rewards they earn
- Account and profile identifiers, used to save a child’s progress
ARTMOOSEUM does no tracking, shows no ads, and uses no third-party analytics. Parents can choose to print a book of their child’s art journey.
How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected, and then we delete it securely.
How we protect it
We keep children’s and parents’ information confidential and secure, and we release it only to people and services that can protect it.
Parent rights
If you are a parent or guardian, you can contact us at any time to:
- Ask what information we have collected about your child, and review it
- Ask us to delete your child’s information
- Withdraw your permission and ask us to stop collecting or using your child’s information
We will never ask a child to share more personal information than is needed to take part in an activity.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date at the top. If a change affects how we handle children’s information, we will tell parents directly.
